Privacy Policy

Örtöö (ortoo.mn) is a travel planner. You swipe through curated places at a destination, and Örtöö turns the places you like into a day-by-day itinerary. You can also ask local travel agencies for a price estimate for your trip. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account. If you sign up with email, we store your email address; your password is handled by Firebase Authentication and is never visible to us.
Your trip choices. The places you pass, like or mark as must-do, and your trip settings (dates, number of days, pace). These are saved to your account so you can continue on another device.
Quote requests. If you ask local agencies for an estimate, we store the details you enter in that form: name, email, phone number (optional), number of travellers, budget, notes, travel dates, language and your itinerary.
Usage data. We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used (for example, which screens are opened and which features are used), together with basic device and browser information. This uses cookies or similar storage in your browser.
Security signals. Firebase App Check and Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise check that requests come from the real app and not from abusive automated traffic.

How we use it

To sign you in and keep your swipes and itineraries in your account.
To build your itinerary. The places you picked and your trip settings are sent to Google's Gemini AI (through Firebase AI Logic) to arrange them into days. Your name and email are not included.
To show maps, photos and opening hours for places, using Google Maps Platform.
To send your quote request to local travel agencies, if you ask for one.
To keep the service secure, fix problems and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Travel agencies: only when you submit a quote request. We forward the details from that request, so that agencies can reply to you directly by email or phone.
Google, as our service provider: Firebase (authentication, database, hosting, analytics, App Check), Google Maps Platform, reCAPTCHA Enterprise and Gemini. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms and privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
Authorities, when the law requires it.

Google user data

When you sign in with Google, Örtöö only requests your basic profile (name, email address and profile picture) and uses it only to create and identify your account. Örtöö's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not access your Gmail, Drive, contacts or any other Google data.

Storage and retention

Your data is stored in Google Cloud (Firebase). Some of it, such as your current swipes, is also kept in your browser's local storage so the app works quickly and offline. We keep your account data until you delete your account or ask us to remove it. Quote requests are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and follow up with agencies, and are deleted when you ask us to.

Your choices and rights

You can use Örtöö's destinations and lists without an account; signing in is only needed to swipe and save.
You can clear the data stored in your browser at any time through your browser settings.
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and all associated data, by emailing privacy@ortoo.mn. We reply within 30 days.
You can revoke Örtöö's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Children

Örtöö is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access to it is restricted by database security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will let you know in the app or by email.
